Carnolès by Private Boat:
Room to Swim. Time to Relax.
A long sweep of coastline between Menton and Cap Martin. Discover a more open side of the Riviera, with a possible swimming stop as part of your private charter from Beaulieu-sur-Mer.
A quieter moment within a bigger Riviera day
Not every stop needs towering cliffs or a famous backdrop. Sometimes the pleasure is simply pausing, getting into the water and enjoying the coast around you.
Carnolès offers a different setting from the compact coves elsewhere on an eastern Riviera route. Here, the shore opens into a long waterfront, with Menton in one direction and the green profile of Cap Martin in the other.
For guests who want to combine coastal sightseeing with time to swim, it is an area worth discussing. A suitable stop can become a relaxed part of the journey, without needing to be the main event of the day.
Plage de Carnolès, Roquebrune-Cap-Martin
The pebble beach stretches for approximately a kilometre from the Menton side toward the beginning of Cap Martin. Along the shore, breakwaters divide the waterfront into a succession of smaller bays.
These sheltered shoreline pockets are part of Carnolès’ appeal, alongside beach restaurants and private beach establishments operating in season. Conditions farther offshore still need to be assessed separately.
From the boat, the impression is of space: a broad Mediterranean outlook, a long sweep of coast and a gentler waterfront setting than the steep-sided coves farther west.
A more open outlook
Look along the waterfront toward Menton or back toward Cap Martin. The setting feels different from a bay enclosed beneath cliffs.
A simple swimming pause
When a suitable permitted stop is available, enjoy time in the water, then settle back aboard before continuing along the coast.
A natural part of the route
Carnolès sits between Menton and Cap Martin, making it an area to consider within an eastern itinerary rather than a separate journey of its own.
Swimming around Carnolès
Carnolès can appeal to groups who want a straightforward swimming stop between stretches of scenic cruising. Tell us if time in the water is one of your priorities.
Your skipper will assess the conditions and choose an appropriate permitted position. The aim is a comfortable place to enjoy the water, with room to relax aboard afterwards.
You do not have to swim. Some guests prefer to stay aboard, enjoy a drink and take in the surroundings. A private charter gives your group space to enjoy the pause in different ways.
Shoreline shelter is not a guarantee offshore
The smaller bays along the beach can offer shelter from waves at the shore. That does not guarantee calm water or a suitable anchorage for the boat.
Wind direction, swell, boat traffic, local navigation and anchoring rules, and the seabed all matter. Your skipper chooses where a stop is appropriate.
Protected Posidonia seagrass must be respected. Any anchoring takes place only where permitted and suitable for the conditions.
How Carnolès fits into a charter from Beaulieu
A day exploring east from Beaulieu-sur-Mer can combine changing coastal scenery with carefully chosen pauses. Carnolès is one possible area to discuss when planning around Cap Martin and Menton.
-
Leave Beaulieu with your priorities agreed
Meet your skipper and settle aboard. Discuss how much cruising, swimming and lunch time your group would enjoy.
-
Follow the coastline east
An eastern route can take in the coastline below Èze, Cap d’Ail, Monaco and Roquebrune-Cap-Martin, depending on your agreed plans.
-
Consider a pause around Carnolès
If conditions and regulations allow, your skipper may select a suitable stop in the area. Enjoy a swim or simply take a break from cruising.
-
Balance Menton with the return journey
Continue toward Menton if it forms part of your itinerary, or shape the return around your remaining time. Leave room to enjoy the day rather than rushing between destinations.
Tell us whether the destination or the swim matters most
If reaching Menton is your priority, we can discuss swimming stops around the wider route. If a long, comfortable swim is what matters, let your skipper recommend the most suitable permitted location on the day.
Keep the day as relaxed as you want
There are seasonal beach restaurants along the Carnolès waterfront, but visiting the coastline does not automatically include going ashore.
If a restaurant lunch is important, discuss it with us before your charter. We can help consider a venue that suits the route, with access arrangements, availability and any additional costs confirmed.
You may prefer to keep the stop simple: swim, dry off and continue cruising. L’Esquinade has refrigeration, dining space and kitchenette facilities if you would like to discuss lunch aboard.
