A great boat day needs rhythm

A private French Riviera boat day can combine scenic cruising, swimming, snorkeling, time at anchor and lunch aboard or at a waterfront restaurant or beach club. You do not need to spend the whole day moving.

Cruise for a while. Stop and swim. Relax, continue along the coast, have lunch and enjoy another anchorage. Our popular routes explore Beaulieu, Èze, Monaco, Roquebrune-Cap-Martin and Menton, with Cap-Ferrat and Villefranche incorporated according to your plans.

There are no extra points for seeing six towns instead of four. Some of the best moments happen with the engines off, the sea around you and nowhere else you need to be.

One of the highlights

Can you swim directly from the yacht?

Yes, when conditions and the chosen anchorage are appropriate. Once safely anchored, you can swim from L’Esquinade, use the snorkeling equipment and enjoy the floats aboard.

Your skipper selects stops according to wind, sea conditions, boat traffic, itinerary and your group’s preferences. No single swimming cove is perfect every day.

Some guests swim for ten minutes; others stay longer or swim several times throughout the day. Others prefer to remain aboard. Everyone does not have to do the same thing.

Not comfortable in open water? Tell your skipper before entering. Swimming is optional, and there is seating, shade and scenery to enjoy aboard.

Choose the stop that suits the day

Where can we swim between Nice and Menton?

Think of the coastline in sections rather than choosing one fixed swimming location months ahead. Your skipper can help find appropriate stops along your route.

Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat

Bays and rocky coastline close to Beaulieu make Cap-Ferrat a useful choice for relaxed days with less cruising. Possible areas include Les Fosses and Paloma Bay near Saint-Jean, depending on conditions.

Villefranche-sur-Mer

The Grasseuil area offers another option to discuss with your skipper, with rocky areas that can appeal to guests interested in snorkeling. The precise stop depends on the conditions and your itinerary.

Below Èze and around Cap d’Ail

Mountains rise steeply behind this stretch of coast. Depending on conditions, swimming can fit naturally before or after seeing Monaco.

Roquebrune-Cap-Martin

Beyond Monaco, the coastline becomes greener and less urban. Cap Martin projects into the sea between Monaco and Menton. For many groups, this area, swimming and lunch form the centerpiece of the day.

Toward Menton

Menton’s colorful old town and mountain backdrop bring another perspective to the route. A swimming stop can be incorporated before or after the offshore views, when conditions allow.

Beaulieu-sur-Mer

Fourmis Bay, near Villa Kérylos, can make a memorable final anchorage before returning to our home port. Ask your skipper whether it suits the conditions on your day.

Make room for your first swim

Should we swim before or after lunch?

If swimming matters to you, we usually suggest leaving time for at least one good swim before lunch. Mediterranean lunches can last longer than expected.

Afterwards, the pace is yours. Relax aboard, cruise for a while and discuss another swimming stop when the group is ready and conditions are appropriate. Nobody needs to rush.

Is snorkeling worthwhile?

It can be an enjoyable part of a stop at anchor. Equipment is aboard, but visibility and the underwater experience vary with the location, wind, waves, rainfall and boat traffic.

This is the Mediterranean coastline, rather than a tropical coral reef. Enjoy what the particular anchorage offers on the day.

Three ways to enjoy lunch

What do we do for lunch during a private charter?

Choose the option that fits the day you imagine. A restaurant reservation is one possibility, rather than a requirement.

01 · Go ashore

Waterfront restaurant or beach club

Arrive from the sea, enjoy lunch ashore and return to the boat to continue your charter. We can help recommend and reserve a venue that suits your group.

02 · Stay aboard

Lunch on L’Esquinade

Enjoy the outside dining space, refrigeration and food-preparation facilities. Bring your own food, or discuss charter-arranged catering in advance for a maximum of four people.

03 · Keep it simple

An easy lunch at anchor

Bring something you enjoy, stay in swimwear and eat in a beautiful setting. A simple onboard lunch leaves more time for swimming and relaxing.

A Riviera experience

What exactly is a beach club?

For American and Canadian visitors, the term can be unfamiliar. A Riviera beach club is usually a private beach establishment combining some mixture of restaurant, bar, loungers, parasols and beach access.

The atmosphere varies considerably. Some are relaxed and family-oriented; others are elegant, fashionable or lively with music. Tell us whether you want a quiet table, a romantic lunch, a family setting or more afternoon energy.

Do we need to spend the afternoon there?

No. You might go ashore just for lunch, then return to L’Esquinade. If your main aim is several hours on a beach-club sunbed, consider enjoying that independently on another vacation day.

How do we get from the yacht to shore?

Some venues use a tender: a smaller boat that collects guests from the anchored yacht. We can help coordinate access where appropriate.

Arrangements vary by venue, season and weather. We will explain any separate tender charge or gratuity during planning.

What should we wear for lunch?

A shirt, cover-up or simple summer clothing is usually useful over swimwear. Check the specific venue’s requirements, especially for a more formal restaurant. We can discuss this beforehand.

Let lunch fit the route

What makes a good Riviera lunch stop?

It is not necessarily the most famous restaurant. It is the one that suits your group, budget and charter itinerary.

Location and access

Does the stop fit your route? Can you reach it conveniently from the boat? What tender arrangements and additional charges apply?

Atmosphere and food

A family with teenagers may prefer something different from an anniversary couple. Tell us what you enjoy, whether lively or quiet, simple or gastronomic.

Time and priorities

A long lunch can be the centerpiece of your day. A shorter meal leaves more time for cruising and swimming. Make it a deliberate choice.

Should we reserve before the charter?

Usually, yes, if you have a particular restaurant in mind. This is especially helpful in July, August, at weekends and for popular venues.

You do not need to settle every detail months ahead. Start with the date, route and atmosphere you want, then refine the arrangements. Leaving a popular summer venue until the last minute can reduce your options.

Can we visit several beach clubs?

We generally suggest one excellent lunch stop rather than several. Transfers, arrivals and departures all take time. Leave enough of the day to enjoy your private boat.

Your group sets the pace

Families, teenagers and couples

Families with children

A restaurant can be enjoyable, but simple food aboard may suit children who would rather keep swimming. Bring familiar snacks and drinks whichever lunch option you choose.

Tell us children’s ages and supervise them around the water.

Teenagers

Some enjoy lively beach clubs; others prefer swimming, lunch aboard and time on the bow sunbed. Ask what appeals to them rather than assuming every teenager wants the same experience.

Couples

A quiet swim, waterfront lunch and relaxed afternoon cruise can create a memorable day. Or keep lunch private aboard. The choice is yours.

A little structure, plenty of flexibility

An example of a balanced boat day

This is a template rather than a fixed schedule. Your route and stops depend on your preferences, reservations and conditions.

  1. Morning — depart Beaulieu

Settle aboard and cruise toward the Èze coastline and Monaco.

  2. Late morning — your first swim

Stop at an appropriate anchorage for swimming, snorkeling or relaxing aboard.

  3. Continue along the coast

Explore beyond Monaco toward Roquebrune-Cap-Martin when it fits your plans.

  4. Lunch — ashore or aboard

Enjoy your chosen restaurant, beach club or an easy lunch on the boat.

  5. Afternoon — explore or unwind

Continue toward Menton if desired, or leave more time for another swimming stop.

  6. Return — enjoy the journey back

Cruise toward Beaulieu, with further stops around Cap-Ferrat or Villefranche if your agreed route and available time allow.

Choose the two or three things that matter most

Monaco, swimming and lunch? Roquebrune, Menton and several swims? A beautiful anchorage, long lunch and relaxed cruise? Trying to maximize everything can make the day feel rushed.

A different relationship with the coast

Why combine a boat with a beach-club lunch?

A beach day keeps you in one location. A private boat lets you swim, move along the coast, see Monaco from the sea, stop for lunch and discover somewhere else.

Lunch ashore can add to that experience. It does not need to replace the whole day aboard. Leave some empty space for an unexpected anchorage or one more swim.

Staying in Cannes or Antibes?

For a day exploring the eastern Riviera, consider traveling to Beaulieu in the morning. Begin close to Cap-Ferrat, Èze and the route toward Monaco, Roquebrune and Menton, rather than using a large part of your boat time reaching this coastline.

How much does lunch add?

That depends entirely on your choices. Food brought aboard, arranged catering and a fashionable waterfront restaurant have different costs. Lunch is not included in the standard charter fee. Tell us your budget and preferred atmosphere.
