Garoupe Beach by Private Boat:
A Different Chapter of the Riviera
A sandy shoreline, a wooded peninsula and an outlook across the Baie des Anges. Discover Garoupe as part of a westbound private charter from Beaulieu-sur-Mer.
Discover the Riviera around Cap d’Antibes
Garoupe brings a different character to a private boat day: a sandier shoreline, a green headland and a broad outlook back toward the coast you have traveled.
For guests heading west from Beaulieu, it offers a contrast to the steep mountain-backed bays around Èze and Monaco. Here, the wooded peninsula sits closer to the water, with small beaches along its edge.
It is unmistakably the French Riviera, with a setting and atmosphere that feel distinct from the eastern coastline. If Cap d’Antibes is on your wish list, tell us before booking so we can discuss a realistic route.
Plage de la Garoupe, Cap d’Antibes
Garoupe lies on the eastern side of Cap d’Antibes, beneath the peninsula’s wooded slopes and the Garoupe plateau. Its sandy shoreline gives the bay a different visual character from the pebble beaches common farther east.
From the water, look back toward the green Cap or out across the Baie des Anges. In clear conditions, the distant mountain backdrop adds scale to the coastal view.
The color of the water changes with the light, depth and seabed. Enjoy the contrast without expecting every visit to look exactly like a photograph.
A sandier Riviera setting
Small beaches and the curve of the bay create a different foreground from the cliffside coves near Beaulieu and Monaco.
A wooded coastal backdrop
Take in the planted peninsula behind the shoreline. The greenery helps give Cap d’Antibes its distinctive coastal character.
Back across the Baie des Anges
Look toward the wider coastline and distant hills. Visibility varies, but the broad outlook is part of the bay’s appeal.
It feels unmistakably Côte d’Azur, but a different Côte d’Azur.
Swimming around Garoupe
A swim can be part of a charter toward Garoupe, where conditions and local rules allow. Tell us how much time you would like in the water when discussing the western route.
Your skipper selects a suitable permitted stopping position, considering the conditions and activity around the bay. Enjoy a swim or stay aboard and take in the setting.
The sandy beach does not mean the boat can stop directly beside it. Boat access, marked swimming areas and anchoring arrangements must be considered separately.
The stopping position depends on the day
Wind, swell, boat traffic, local restrictions and the seabed all influence whether a stop is appropriate. Your skipper makes the final decision.
Anchoring must respect protected Posidonia seagrass and the regulations applying at the exact location. No fixed anchorage or swimming position is promised.
If conditions do not favor Garoupe, your skipper can recommend a different suitable stop within the agreed charter arrangements.
A glimpse of the Riviera’s golden age
Cap d’Antibes became associated with writers, artists and international society during the Riviera summers of the 1920s and 1930s. Garoupe forms part of that coastal story.
From a boat, the history is background to the experience in front of you: the curve of the bay, the sand and the greenery above the shore.
You do not need to know the famous names to appreciate the setting. The landscape gives you a reason to pause all by itself.
The Tirepoil coastal path
Garoupe Beach is a starting point for the Tirepoil coastal path, which explores the protected coastline of Cap d’Antibes.
Walking the trail is a separate experience ashore, rather than an automatic part of your boat charter. It needs suitable footwear, time and appropriate conditions.
If the walk interests you, consider planning it as another part of your Riviera stay.
Beach restaurants and time ashore
Garoupe’s waterfront includes beach establishments, but a coastal visit does not automatically include a restaurant reservation or transfer ashore.
Tell us if lunch is an important part of your plans. We can discuss current venue options, availability and suitable access for your date.
Shoreline arrangements can change. Any restaurant visit, transfer requirements and additional costs should be confirmed in advance.
Choose between a longer lunch and more time exploring
A westbound charter from Beaulieu already includes a longer journey. A substantial restaurant stop leaves less time for swimming or other destinations.
If you prefer to stay aboard, discuss lunch plans with us. L’Esquinade has dining space, refrigeration and kitchenette facilities.
Visiting Garoupe from Beaulieu-sur-Mer
Garoupe is a farther destination than the bays around Beaulieu and Cap Ferrat. The time spent cruising and the fuel required need to be part of the discussion before you reserve your charter.
-
Agree the priorities before booking
Tell us whether reaching Garoupe, exploring Antibes, swimming or restaurant lunch matters most. We can help balance the day.
-
Depart Beaulieu for the western coastline
Meet your skipper and confirm the conditions and agreed route. The cruise west is a significant part of the experience.
-
Enjoy the Cap d’Antibes setting
Take in the bay and its wooded backdrop. A swim or shore visit depends on conditions, permissions and arrangements made for your day.
-
Leave enough time for the return
Plan the stop around the full charter duration. Your return to Beaulieu should be part of a realistic itinerary, with room for changing sea conditions.
A different direction, rather than an extra stop
Garoupe belongs to a western itinerary. It should not be treated as a quick addition to a day exploring Monaco and Menton. Choose the coastline you most want to experience, then give it the time it deserves.
Explore aboard L’Esquinade
Our Sunseeker Portofino 35 is reserved for your group of up to six charter guests, with an English-speaking skipper.

Where is Garoupe Beach?
Plage de la Garoupe is on the eastern side of Cap d’Antibes, beneath the wooded peninsula and the Garoupe plateau.
Does this charter depart from Antibes?
The charter described here departs from Beaulieu-sur-Mer near Nice. Garoupe is a destination to discuss within a westbound itinerary.
Can we swim around Garoupe?
A swimming stop may be possible at a suitable permitted location. Your skipper considers conditions, traffic and local restrictions before selecting a stopping place.
Is the beach sandy?
Garoupe has a sandy shoreline, giving it a different character from many of the pebble beaches around the eastern Riviera. This does not describe every part of the offshore seabed.
Can we have lunch at a beach restaurant?
Ask us in advance. Restaurant availability, shore access and transfer arrangements need to be confirmed for your date. Meals and separately charged transfers are additional to the charter.
How long does it take to reach Garoupe from Beaulieu?
Timing depends on the route, cruising pace, sea conditions and stops. We will discuss the full journey and return before booking, rather than promise a fixed crossing time.
Will a Garoupe itinerary use more fuel?
A longer cruising route generally requires more fuel than a day staying close to Beaulieu. Ask for an estimate based on your proposed itinerary.
Can we combine Garoupe with Monaco and Menton?
They lie in opposite directions from Beaulieu. We recommend discussing a focused western or eastern itinerary, rather than trying to fit both coastlines into one day.
Is the Tirepoil coastal walk included?
No. The walk is a separate activity ashore. Any proposed shore visit would need additional planning for access, time and conditions.
What if conditions do not suit the western route?
Your skipper will discuss the appropriate options under your charter arrangements. Safety and sea conditions take priority over reaching a specific destination.
