Sunrise or sunset?
Both can create a beautiful mood. Sunset offers evening light; early morning can feel quieter and more private. Contact us to discuss the timing, availability and arrangements for your date. Neither timing guarantees calm seas.
Where is the best place to propose?
There is no single answer. Weather, sea conditions, light, privacy and your partner’s preferences all matter.
Possible settings include Cap-Ferrat, Saint-Jean, the coastline below Èze or Mala Bay in Cap d’Ail. We prefer to choose a safe, comfortable location for the actual day rather than promise one exact position months ahead.
Monaco is a famous backdrop, but a quieter bay may create the moment you want. The most recognizable setting is not automatically the most personal one.
Should I propose while the boat is moving?
We usually recommend a settled, relaxed moment. Your skipper can position L’Esquinade appropriately according to conditions and explain where aboard would work best.
Take your time. You should be thinking about the person in front of you, rather than your balance.
How do we keep a proposal or birthday surprise secret?
Tell us immediately that the charter is a surprise. We can then agree how to communicate and what the other person already knows.

Champagne, flowers, photographs & surprises
Tell us what you have in mind. Champagne and other drinks can be selected in advance during booking. Water and French rosé are normally complimentary aboard; additional drinks are charged separately.
Flowers, a particular bottle, photography or lunch reservations can be discussed in advance. We will explain what is practical and available, together with any additional costs.
Extras are optional. A simple private moment can be just as meaningful as a more elaborate arrangement.
Keep the ring secure
Until the moment arrives, keep it in a closed, secure place. Avoid placing it on a seat or boat edge, or handling it over the water for photographs. Secure it again before swimming.
What should we wear?
Comfortable Riviera clothing usually works well. If photographs are important, consider outfits beforehand without making the cover story unnecessarily complicated. We can advise on any chosen restaurant’s dress requirements.
What happens after the proposal?
You are already somewhere beautiful. Take photographs, sit together, enjoy a drink or simply have a quiet moment. There is no need to move on immediately.
Then follow the day you have arranged: perhaps cruising toward Èze and Monaco, a celebratory lunch, more coastline or a return to Beaulieu.
A full day together
Make the proposal the beginning of a longer Riviera charter, with swimming, sightseeing and a waterfront lunch. Confirm the total hours and return time in advance.
A shorter private outing
A carefully planned two- or three-hour experience may be what you want. Ask directly about shorter proposal arrangements, pricing and availability.
Stay aboard to celebrate
L’Esquinade has dining space, refrigeration, a kitchenette and comfortable seating. You do not need to go ashore if privacy aboard suits you better.

You do not need to be getting engaged to enjoy a romantic day. The boat is private for you and your skipper, with no unrelated guests and no fixed tour commentary.

L’Esquinade accommodates up to six guests, keeping the celebration small and personal. Choose the pace, music, swimming stops and lunch around the person being celebrated.
We have hosted milestone birthday celebrations, including a 75th birthday shared with family. The aim is a day that reflects your group, rather than a standard package.
A birthday boat day as a gift
Perhaps the guest thinks they are going to lunch in Beaulieu, knows about the boat but not who is joining, or discovers the charter is the present itself.
Tell us what they know and what should remain a surprise. We can coordinate communication accordingly.
Can we bring a cake?
Discuss storage and practical arrangements beforehand. We can also discuss collecting a cake and candles for you, subject to arrangements and any additional cost.

Meet privately in Beaulieu at the agreed time. Cruise out, choose a suitable setting with your skipper and take your moment. Afterwards, celebrate aboard and either continue the planned charter or return as arranged.

Begin around 10:00 AM, cruise east toward Roquebrune or Menton, and swim where appropriate. Enjoy a waterfront lunch, perhaps around Cap d’Ail, then return west toward Cap-Ferrat or Villefranche if time allows.

Leave Beaulieu with the guest’s favorite music, cruise and swim, then enjoy lunch somewhere they will love. Plan any cake or surprise in advance, and leave time for the journey together.

What if the weather changes?
Wind and sea conditions can make one location less comfortable than another. It is better to plan the atmosphere you want than become fixed on one exact spot.
Your skipper can suggest a different bay or direction when practical. Safety and comfort take priority.
If unsafe conditions prevent the charter, our normal weather policy provides for rescheduling where possible or a full refund if rescheduling is not possible.
Special arrangements and external suppliers may have their own payment and cancellation terms. We will explain these when organizing your occasion.
How much does a special-occasion charter cost?
Our standard main-season full-day charter rate, for the whole yacht and up to six guests, is:

If you want Cap-Ferrat, Èze, Monaco, Roquebrune, Menton or Villefranche, consider traveling to Beaulieu for the charter.
Your hotel does not have to determine the coastline you explore. We can discuss the logistics for your special day.
